From One Toyota to the Next Generation: How Lady Yotas Became a Mother-Daughter Tradition

Hello!

I’m Kaelyn and me and my 2023 4Runner Calypso have been finding adventures here in the Pacific Northwest for three years now. Calypso is my first Toyota and to say I was obsessed with her from the start is an understatement. I wasn’t even looking for a new vehicle at the time but she showed up in my Facebook feed as an ad from our local Toyota dealer and she called to me. Within 30 minutes I was at the dealership “just to look” but it was love at first sight and she came home with me that night. I’d never had a car that I was able to really play with (I had a minivan previously), so I instantly dove into what mods I could do and where I could take her, but as someone who hasn’t done much with cars I realized I wanted to find a community that could give me the guidance and support I wanted.

For a year I bounced from group to group, not really finding the connection I was looking for, until one day in January 2024 there was a post in one of the groups I was in, about Lady Yota’s having a coffee meetup near where I lived. I was immediately interested and made myself step out of my comfort zone to attend that coffee meetup. Within 5 minutes I knew this was the community I was searching for. I attended as many events as I could, and started bringing my kids along for many of them, especially my oldest daughter, Olivia. Together we did coffee meetups and scenic drives, meeting and befriending so many amazing women along the way.

In 2025 Olivia was learning to drive and bought her first car, a 1998 Toyota Camry she named Jules. She was so excited to be able to join Lady Yota’s and was so proud to put that Lady Yota’s sticker on her car. In December she successfully passed her drivers test and attended her very first Lady Yota’s event with her Camry, the PIR Winter Wonderland event.

Lady Yota’s has given both Olivia and I the confidence to both step out of our comfort zones, whether it’s learning how to off-road safely, tear off the front bumper and put cool new mods on by ourselves, or planning new adventures. Most importantly it’s turned into an amazing way for this mom and daughter to stay connected, build our passion for our Toyotas, and make amazing memories together.
